We were commissioned by a homeowner in the Bognor area to help make better use of the space beneath their staircase. Like many properties, this area had become a bit of a dumping ground, with limited accessibility and no real storage solution in place.
After an initial consultation, we worked with the client to design a set of bespoke understairs cupboards that would not only maximise the available space but also complement the existing interior of the home. The brief was to create something practical, clean-looking, and in keeping with the style of the property.
We began by carefully measuring the space and constructing a custom framework to ensure a perfect fit. Every angle under a staircase is different, so a made-to-measure approach is essential. Once the structure was in place, we installed a combination of cupboard doors and internal shelving to provide flexible storage options.
Particular attention was paid to the finish, with smooth door fronts, neatly fitted hinges, and a clean paint finish that matched the surrounding décor. The end result was a seamless addition to the hallway that looked like it had always been part of the home.
The client was delighted with the transformation, not only because of how it looked, but also because of how much more practical the space had become. What was once unused and cluttered is now a highly functional storage area.
This project is a great example of how bespoke carpentry can completely transform overlooked areas of a home. Whether it’s understairs storage, fitted shelving, or custom-built furniture, tailored solutions can make a big difference both visually and practically.
